It’s snowing here in Northern Illinois. We’ve got about 4 inches already and they are saying up to nine inches possible. The temperatures are getting to be more wintery too. Just the sort of time to look at quilts and think about how nice and warm they are.
Below are pictures I’ve taken at two local quilt shows during the past year.
The one below is a row quilt. I love the different blocks and the different quilting around each block. Unfortunately I can’t enlarge it enough to read the artist’s name.
The one below is titled Hummingbird Highway by Dawn Siden. I love how she used little fan pieces to give the illusion of feathers on the hummingbird.
Hummingbird HighwayThis one is reminiscent of the Delft tiles from the Netherlands, appropriately named Delft Garden by Gail H. Smith. IMHO absolutely gorgeous!
Delft GardenThis fabulous quilt is called Woodland Animals by Margaret Bridge.
Woodland AnimalsA close up shot of the detail work in Woodland Animals, showing the embroidery along with the applique.
The last one in the set is a fabulous Baltimore Album style quilt. Not only do I love the applique but the quilting is fabulous. Unfortunately I did not get the name of the artist.
A Baltimore BeautySo how about you? What are you working on?
